The City is excited to release a draft of the Downtown Strategic Plan (Draft Plan). This document is the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of work, three community meetings, and intensive consideration of our unique downtown by Harriman Associates.
We have created an opportunity for a two-week public comment period on the document which will end on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The primary goals of this review period are to a) obtain constructive feedback on the data and recommendations, and, b) to continue to highlight and raise awareness of the existence of the report and the concerted effort that shall unfold over the next several years to determine, facilitate, and see the successful redevelopment of the Center, Pepin, and Maple Street school properties.
Please go to project website to view the Draft Plan, submit comments online, or to review other project information:
The project would not be possible without the Planning Assistance Grant of $50,000 from the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the participation residents and business owners who contributed their time and knowledge.
Time is running out to be engaged in this process. The final Downtown Strategic Plan will provide the groundwork for a school reuse committee to finalize the most desirable uses for the school properties as well as create a long-term vision for the Downtown. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Easthampton – and the time to be engaged is now and over the next 1-2 years.
