Easthampton Recruiting Senior Tax Work Off Candidates
Easthampton, MA - Are you an Easthampton homeowner aged 60+? Could you see yourself working a few hours per week in a position at the senior center, city hall, parks, library, or public safety? You might be eligible to apply for the City’s Senior Tax Work-Off program.
Workers who complete the maximum of 100 hours receive a $1500 credit on their fiscal year 2025 property taxes at the rate of $15.00 per hour, or their position or situation allows for fewer than 100 hours, a prorated credit. Work will be performed in 2024 through October 15th. Position start dates vary. Some positions are seasonal.
Eligibility for the program is as follows:
60 years of age or older at the time of application
Easthampton resident and homeowner(s)
Property for which the tax credit is requested must be the primary residence of the owner(s)
Property tax and water and sewer payments are current (according to City policy on what is considered current)
Limited to one $1,500 work-off per household
Annual gross income (including Social Security) is a maximum of $65,590 for a one-person household and $74,960 for a two-person household.
