Free Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Easthampton, MA – The Easthampton Fire Department will be partnering with the American Red Cross again this year to install free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the city. These installations will be done on Monday, April 3rd between the hours of 9AM-1PM.
- Individuals are eligible for this program if:
- Your home was built before 1975
- Your current smoke alarms are at least 10 years old
- You must own the home
- Apartments / apartment complexes are not eligible
Having working smoke alarms in your home can double your chances of survival if a fire occurs. Home fire deaths have been cut in half since the early 1970’s when smoke alarms were first marketed. Tragically about 3,000 people still die in fires each year in the United States. 40% of the fire deaths that occur each year in the U.S. take place in the 4% of homes without working smoke alarms.
To sign up for this important life safety initiative, please email the Fire Department Administrative Assistant at brouthier@easthamptonma.gov or call 413-527-4200 ex. 2180. Deadline to sign up is March 27, 2023. Thank you!
