[ARCHIVED] Water Use Restriction

Easthampton Massachusetts

Water Use Restriction

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has issued a “Level 1” mild drought for the Connecticut river valley region. Due to this, the city is required to implement a water use restriction for users of the Easthampton Public Water Supply.

Limiting water use, especially non-essential outdoor water use, is needed to ensure a sustainable water supply and to protect stream flow for aquatic life.

An immediate ban on nonessential outdoor water use is required. The following water uses are limited to one day per week prior to 9:00AM or after 5:00PM.

  • Irrigation of lawns except by means of handheld hose
  • Washing of vehicles, other than by commercial car wash or as necessary for operator safety
  • Washing of exterior building surfaces, parking lots, driveways or sidewalks
  • Production of food and watering of livestock is exempt from this restriction

The City will notify the public when the water restriction is lifted.

Any person found violating this water use restriction may be subject to the fines established Section 12-49 of the City Ordinances.
