City of Easthampton Licensing Board Approves Outdoor Live Entertainment Application
Easthampton, MA - The Easthampton Licensing Board approved implementing an Outdoor Live Entertainment License under MGL Chapter 140, §181 at their March 9, 2022, licensing meeting effective April 1, 2022.
The Easthampton Licensing Board held three public hearings over the course of several months and asked for local business and community input around the application and licensing process. After collaboration with the public and City Solicitor, the board voted to implement the licensing process for all outdoor live entertainment events.
*Anyone seeking to do outdoor live entertainment open to the public must go through the Local Licensing Authority’s (LLA) proper channels for their event. *Liquor licensees are not subject to this under MGL Chapter 140 § 183A.
At the March 9th meeting, the board requested that their department LLA, Lindsi Mailler, revise the application to include “good neighbor” language. The good neighbor language added now reads, “The LLA ask that anyone applying for a license make a commitment to being a responsible neighbor in the community. Out of consideration for others in the community, the emission of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, and unnecessary noise that disturbs the peace and quiet of the community or an individual is prohibited. Outdoor Live Entertainment licenses are a beneficial resolution for remedying disputes and moving forward with future applications. Applicants should be mindful to monitor/control the behavior of attendees so that the program, event or activity complies with the approved license at all times.”
