EASTHAMPTON COUNCIL ON AGING BUILDING TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO PUBLIC FOR GROUP ACTIVITIES
Easthampton, MA – Because Easthampton is experiencing the highest rate of COVID-19 cases to date in 2021, the City expects substantial increase in COVID cases after the December and January holidays. Given this projected increase, and the building’s physical layout, the Easthampton Council on Aging and Enrichment building will be closed to the public for group activities and certain other services starting Wednesday, December 22, 2021 through January 18, 2022. The Mayor’s Office makes this decision with the Health Department in the interest of community and staff health.
The Council on Aging (COA) staff will continue to provide services to individuals one-to-one by phone and online, and staff will meet with residents in person for programs that require in-person service (SHINE and Fuel Assistance). Appropriate precautions for both staff and residents, including better-fitting, high quality masks and improved ventilation, will be implemented. COA staff and volunteers will continue to distribute Highland Valley Elder Services take-and-go meals outdoors at 50 Payson and provide limited home shopping and delivery service.
To sign up for meals, to access any programs, and for information about transportation services, Fitness Room access, and remote programs, contact the reception desk at 413-527-6151 ext. 135 or press 0. Note that reception will close Friday, December 24 at noon, the COA is closed for the City holidays on Monday, December 27th and Monday, January 3rd, and reception is closed on Thursday, December 30 from 10 AM to noon and after 2 PM on Friday, December 31st.
